Bird art inspiration – Quote from the artist, James Hollis: –
“I love birdwatching. To help me see and study the many birds that visit my garden, I’ve built a bird box, which often houses a family of Blue Tits. I also have a large oak tree in my backyard, which attracts a wide variety of birds. I’ve seen robins, a woodpecker, and sometimes even parakeets that come to visit. Every bird painting I create is based on one of these birds, or others I’ve observed on my travels.” The Artist James Hollis
Through my time studying, and drawing birds, James has discovered a number of interesting facts about them:
- Birds bones are hollow, which makes them lighter, and helps them to fly.
- The goose was the first bird to be domesticated by humans.
- The domestic chicken is the most common bird in the world, with over 50 million birds.
