London painting inspiration, quote from the artist, James Hollis: –
“Born and raised in South East London, I have a particular fondness for the city and all of its intricacies. From the city centre to the countryside, I’m inspired by all that London has to offer. Sometimes, I’ll wander around the city streets, looking for beautiful places to paint. The stunning architecture, rich history and graceful skyline make London the perfect subject. For many years, I’ve been passionate about creating paintings of London that truly capture its richness and splendour.

Living in Blackheath, I always enjoy walks around the heath and Greenwich Park. I’m constantly intrigued by the way the seasons and light change the mood of the landscape, creating a fresh canvas and inspiration no matter what time of year it is.”
– The Artist James Hollis

Here are some interesting facts about London:

  • London was the first city to reach a population of one million inhabitants, which happened in 1811.
  • London is home to residents of over 270 nationalities, and 300 different languages, making it one of the most multicultural cities in the world.
  • The famous London landmark, Big Ben, is not the name of the tower, or the clock. Big Ben is actually the name of the bell in the clocktower.
  • The oldest intact building in London is The White Tower, a part of the famous Tower of London. It was originally built by William the Conqueror in the 1080’s.

These original paintings of London by British artist James Hollis are perfect for modern and rustic homes alike. They are also an excellent gift for anyone who wants their very own piece of original London artwork.
